Cotswold Sideboard
The Cotswold sideboard shows off the striped grain of tiger oak to good effect, especially in the plinth. Tiger oak is formed when the heartwood becomes darker but the silver "medullary rays" created by the radial band of cells remain bright. This phenomenon occurs only during a ten year period in the life of a tree - and Stewart Linford's timber merchants ensure that their trees are fully mature and can be cut at the correct time. Thus the fascinating colours are retained instead of being lost forever.
